- Hurzeler signs new contract at Brighton
- Seagulls push for European qualification
- Long-term vision backed by club hierarchy
Brighton have taken a decisive step towards stability by agreeing a new long-term contract with head coach Fabian Hurzeler, underlining their belief in the 33-year-old as the club eyes a place in European competition.
Hurzeler Signs New Contract to Cement Brighton Future
The German, who arrived at the Amex in June 2024, had been approaching the final year of his existing deal. Discussions have now advanced significantly, with a fresh agreement in place in principle and formal confirmation expected in the coming days. The club has declined to comment publicly until the contract is signed, in keeping with its usual policy.
Hurzeler has made a strong impression on the hierarchy at Brighton & Hove Albion, guiding the side into the top half of the Premier League table and into contention for European qualification with just three games remaining.
European Push Still Alive After Mixed Results
A run of six wins from eight matches lifted Brighton into the conversation for continental football, although a 3-1 defeat to Newcastle United last weekend briefly slowed their momentum. Even so, the broader trajectory remains positive and Hurzeler’s influence is clear as the season approaches its conclusion.
With only a handful of fixtures left, the Seagulls remain firmly in the hunt for what would be just their second ever European campaign, a remarkable prospect that reflects the progress made under their young manager.

Hurzeler Dismisses Exit Talk and Reaffirms Commitment
Recent speculation had linked the Brighton boss with a return to Germany, including reported interest from Bayer Leverkusen. Speaking to Sky Sports last month, Hurzeler addressed those rumours directly and made his stance unmistakably clear:
“It’s always an honour to be linked to these kinds of rumours and speculation but I’m really happy here.”
In the same interview, he pointed to the strong relationship he has built within the club and the environment that has allowed him to thrive:
“I’m very thankful for the trust and support the club has given me. I’m really enjoying my time here and therefore, we focus on a strong end to the season.”
Hurzeler went on to emphasise his commitment to the project at Brighton, highlighting a sense of stability that he values highly in modern football:
“I’m totally committed; there are no thoughts. In football, there is not always this loyalty from a club. I really feel trusted here and welcomed. I can express myself and really be successful with this team.”
Since stepping up from St Pauli, Hurzeler has embraced life in English football with composure and clarity. As the youngest manager in the league, he has brought fresh ideas and a confident identity to Brighton’s play.
With a new long-term deal on the verge of completion and European football still within reach, Brighton are sending a clear message about their ambitions. Stability on the touchline could prove crucial as they look to finish the season strongly and continue their upward climb.
