- Danny Welbeck leads Premier League best-value attacking rankings
- Brighton striker scored 13 league goals in 2025/26 season
- England recall talk grows after standout campaign for Seagulls
Danny Welbeck’s renaissance at Brighton has earned another major accolade with the veteran forward ranked as the Premier League’s best-value attacking player of the 2025/26 season.
Research conducted by Bally Bet analysed player market valuations from Transfermarkt against total goal contributions across the league. The study focused on forwards and attacking midfielders with at least 10 goal involvements and 20 appearances.
Welbeck came out on top.
Welbeck delivers outstanding value for Brighton
The Brighton striker has produced 13 goals and one assist this season despite carrying a reported market value of just £3.48 million. That leaves each of his 14 goal contributions costing an estimated £248,571, making him the most cost-effective attacking player in the division.
For Brighton supporters it only adds to the growing sense that this has been the finest campaign of Welbeck’s career.

Veteran forward enjoying best-ever Premier League season
The 35-year-old has already posted his best-ever Premier League scoring return and has now reached double figures in consecutive top-flight seasons for the first time.
After netting 10 goals last term he has taken his game to another level in 2025/26, becoming one of the driving forces behind Brighton’s impressive season.
Welbeck also shares the honour of being the league’s highest-scoring English player alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Unlike the Everton striker though only one of Welbeck’s goals has come from the penalty spot.
Danny Welbeck named Premier League’s best-value attacking star
That form has inevitably reignited talk of an England recall ahead of the World Cup with the Brighton forward continuing to thrive under the south coast spotlight.
Only Harry Kane has scored more goals among English players competing in Europe’s top leagues this season with the Bayern Munich striker enjoying another remarkable year in Germany.
Welbeck’s consistency has also strengthened Brighton’s decision to extend his contract earlier this year. The club moved quickly in March to secure the striker for another 12-month spell and his performances since have fully justified that faith.

Brighton has also become the team he has represented more than any other during his career, overtaking his spells at Manchester United and Arsenal.
A player once plagued by injuries has become one of the Premier League’s most reliable attacking figures and perhaps one of its most underrated success stories too.
Who else ranked among the Premier League’s best-value attackers?
Elsewhere in the value rankings Fulham striker Raul Jimenez finished second. The experienced Mexican forward has registered nine goals and three assists with the same £3.48 million valuation, giving him a cost of £290,000 per goal contribution.
Burnley midfielder Zian Flemming placed third after contributing to 10 goals this season while Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes ranked fourth with 28 goal involvements.
Another Burnley player, Jaidon Anthony, completed the top five.
Former Brighton winger Leandro Trossard also featured prominently in sixth while Calvert-Lewin followed close behind in seventh.
