Brighton eye Myron van Brederode move
Van Brederode has developed into one of Mechelen’s standout attacking players this season, primarily operating from the left but also featuring as a central attacking midfielder, centre-forward and on the right flank.
That versatility fits Brighton’s recruitment model under Fabian Hurzeler, with the Seagulls continuing to target technically adaptable young players with strong resale value.
The Dutchman has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 32 Belgian Pro League appearances this season, while his overall tally stands at nine goals and five assists in 34 matches across all competitions.
His latest display only added to that growing interest. Van Brederode scored once and registered an assist in Mechelen’s 2-2 draw with Anderlecht on Sunday, underlining his impact in the final third.
Why van Brederode fits Brighton
Brighton have built a strong reputation for identifying emerging talent before their value rises significantly, and Van Brederode appears to fit that strategy closely.
He has created 52 chances in the league this season, completed 46 successful dribbles and delivered 34 successful crosses, highlighting his ability to progress the ball and create opportunities from wide areas.
His work off the ball is also notable. The winger has recorded 62 defensive contributions and won possession in the final third 18 times, making him an appealing option for Hurzeler’s high-intensity pressing system.

Summer interest in Brederode is growing
Mechelen are reportedly open to a sale if their valuation is met, with a deal in the region of €10 million potentially enough to break the Belgian club’s transfer record.
While a return to the Netherlands remains an option, with reported interest from Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven, the growing Premier League interest could prove difficult to ignore. For Brighton, Van Brederode looks like another classic Seagulls target.
