- Brighton linked with West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen
- Bowen has eight goals and 10 assists this season
- Could offer proven Premier League quality in attack
Jarrod Bowen has emerged as a potential transfer target for Brighton & Hove Albion, with reports from Transfers suggesting the Seagulls could move for the West Ham United forward if the Hammers are relegated this season.
Brighton are one of several clubs linked with Bowen, alongside Everton and Newcastle United, as uncertainty grows around West Ham’s future. If relegation triggers departures, Bowen would instantly become one of the most sought-after players outside the traditional top six.
For Brighton, it would be a rare chance to sign a proven Premier League attacker.
Why Brighton need Bowen’s goals
Fabian Hurzeler’s side have spread goals across the squad this season, with 19 different players finding the net in all competitions. That reflects Brighton’s fluid attacking system and ability to create from multiple areas. The problem has been volume.
Danny Welbeck remains Brighton’s leading scorer with 13 league goals. No other player has scored more than five. That gap highlights how reliant the Seagulls have become on the veteran striker to deliver decisive moments. Bowen would immediately solve part of that issue.
The England international has scored eight goals and registered 10 assists in 37 Premier League appearances this season. He can operate from the right, through the middle or as a second striker, offering exactly the kind of versatility Brighton currently lack in the final third.
With Stefanos Tzimas sidelined through injury and Georginio Rutter struggling to adapt as a central option, Welbeck has often carried the burden alone. Jack Hinshelwood has impressed in advanced roles, but his best performances have come as a number 10 rather than leading the line.
Bowen would not just add depth. He would give Brighton another genuine match-winner.
Bowen fits Hurzeler’s attack
One reason the move feels realistic is Bowen’s tactical profile. He is a left-footed inverted winger who thrives from the right flank, exactly the type of wide forward that suits Hurzeler’s current setup. Brighton’s recent improvement has come through aggressive pressing, quick vertical combinations and creating overloads around the half-spaces. Bowen excels in all three areas.
He attacks space quickly, makes intelligent runs off the shoulder and presses relentlessly without the ball. That defensive work rate would make him a natural fit in Brighton’s front press, while his ability to cut inside onto his left foot could complement the direct dribbling of Yankuba Minteh on the opposite side.
He is also capable of playing as a central striker, which would give Hurzeler a genuine alternative to Welbeck in games where Brighton need more pace in behind.

A rare market opportunity for Brighton
Brighton’s recruitment model usually focuses on younger talent with resale value. Bowen would break that mould slightly at 29, but not every signing needs to be a long-term project.
At around £30 million, he would represent a major outlay by Brighton’s standards, but also a rare opportunity to sign an established Premier League performer who could raise the level immediately.
Plus, he will be available for a smaller fee if West Ham become a Championship side. Brighton have built a side full of exciting prospects. What they still lack is a forward with proven top-level output.
If West Ham do go down, this is a deal Brighton should push hard to make happen.
