Brighton & Hove Albion have carried out extensive scouting work on Bayern Munich midfielder Arijon Ibrahimovic as the club continues to identify emerging European talent ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old, who spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Bundesliga side , has attracted growing interest after a consistent campaign in Germany. According to TEAMtalk, Brighton are now understood to be among the Premier League clubs closely monitoring his situation.

Brighton tracking emerging Bundesliga talent

Ibrahimovic, under contract at FC Bayern Munich, is viewed internally as a high-upside attacking midfielder capable of operating across multiple roles. His versatility has been one of the key factors behind Brighton’s recruitment department tracking him closely. Scouts are impressed by his ability to play centrally, drift into advanced positions, and operate in wide attacking areas when required.

During his loan spell at Heidenheim, Ibrahimovic made 34 appearances, contributing goals and assists while adapting to consistent Bundesliga minutes.

Although Heidenheim were ultimately relegated, his individual performances stood out within a difficult team environment. In possession-based phases, he showed composure and technical security under pressure.

Why Ibrahimovic fits Brighton’s recruitment model

Brighton’s recruitment model has consistently targeted young players with tactical flexibility and long-term development potential, and Ibrahimovic fits that profile closely. Sources indicate the club value his decision-making in tight spaces, his pressing intelligence, and his ability to operate in multiple midfield structures without disrupting team balance.

The Seagulls’ interest is understood to be part of a wider evaluation process rather than an advanced negotiation stage, but scouting reports have been described internally as positive. Brighton are continuing to assess whether a potential opportunity could emerge if Bayern decide to sanction another loan or consider a permanent departure.

Bayern stance remains key to any deal

However, Bayern’s stance remains an important factor. The German champions are believed to still view Ibrahimovic as a player with a significant long-term future at the club, particularly after monitoring his development closely over the past season. His loan spell is considered to have accelerated his physical and tactical growth. Now, internal discussions at Bayern suggest he remains in their wider senior planning structure.

Despite that, competition for places at the Allianz Arena means another temporary move has not been ruled out. That uncertainty has encouraged several clubs across Europe, including Brighton, to maintain active scouting coverage.

For Brighton, the appeal is clear. Ibrahimovic represents the type of young, technically strong midfielder the club have consistently developed. There’s also the added advantage of positional flexibility across attacking roles. With potential squad changes expected this summer, Brighton’s recruitment team are preparing for multiple scenarios as they look to stay ahead of the market.

No formal approach has been made at this stage, but interest is understood to be genuine, and Ibrahimovic is now firmly on Brighton’s radar as they continue to map out options for the window ahead.
