  • Udinese are believed to value the midfielder at £35m
  • Fabian Hurzeler wants more midfield depth for Europe

Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly submitted a £26 million bid for Arthur Atta as the club looks to strengthen its midfield options ahead of next season’s UEFA Conference League campaign.

The 23-year-old midfielder enjoyed an impressive season with Udinese Calcio in the Serie A. According to TUTTOmercatoWEB, Atta has emerged as a closely monitored young midfielder heading into the summer transfer window.

Why Brighton want Arthur Atta

According to reports in Italy, Brighton view Atta as a potential replacement for Carlos Baleba as Fabian Hurzeler prepares for the demands of domestic and European football next season.

Udinese are valuing the Frenchman at around £35m following his breakthrough campaign in Italy.

Atta scored six goals and registered three assists in 34 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 season, establishing himself as an increasingly influential figure in Udinese’s midfield.

Atta’s rise in Serie A

Primarily a defensive midfielder, Atta is also capable of operating in more advanced roles, with his athleticism and ball-carrying ability attracting interest from several Premier League clubs.

Brighton’s recruitment model has consistently targeted young players with significant developmental upside, and Atta appears to fit that profile closely.

The French midfielder began his career in the academy systems of AS Saint Jacques, Rennes, and Metz before making his professional breakthrough at Metz in Ligue 2.

Interestingly, Atta initially played as a goalkeeper, winger, and striker during his youth career before eventually settling into midfield.

Brighton planning for Europe

Udinese signed Atta permanently from Metz last summer after an initial loan spell, paying around £7m for the midfielder. Less than a year later, his valuation has reportedly increased significantly following his performances in Serie A.

With Brighton preparing for another European campaign, strengthening midfield depth is expected to be a priority throughout the summer window.

Although no agreement has yet been reached, Brighton’s reported opening bid signals serious intent as the club continues planning for a demanding 2026/27 season.
