Carla Camacho says Brighton are ready to embrace the occasion as the club prepares for a history-making Women’s FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.

The Spanish forward, who joined Albion from Real Madrid last summer, believes Sunday’s showdown offers the chance to create a landmark moment for the club by lifting its first major trophy.

Camacho’s excitement has reflected the growing belief inside the Brighton camp ahead of one of the biggest matches in the club’s history. The feeling that Camacho targets Wembley glory with Brighton has become clear throughout the build-up to the final.

Camacho embraces Wembley occasion with Brighton

“Everyone in the team is so excited,” Camacho said.

“We were so happy when we reached the final. It’s a special day for everyone, and we know how historic it would be to win the first trophy for Brighton men or women.”

The occasion will also carry personal significance for the 21-year-old with her family set to watch her play at Wembley for the first time.

“My parents are coming,” she said.

“They couldn’t make it to many games previously, so this is going to be their first proper game being there.”

Brighton striker reflects on adapting to English football

Camacho admitted her move from Spain to England brought major challenges both on and off the pitch as she adapted to a new language, a new culture and the tactical demands of head coach Dario Vidosic.

The young forward revealed she constantly asks questions in training to improve her understanding of Brighton’s style of play.

“When I came in, I was literally in shock because there were so many new things to learn, and the language barrier was tough,” she admitted.

“But I ask a lot of questions. It can be annoying for Dario and Fran Kirby the most but I don’t care! I just want to understand every little detail to become a better player.”

Camacho’s determination to improve was evident after Brighton’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in March when she scored her first goal for the club before being substituted at half-time.

Camacho targets Wembley glory against Manchester City

Despite Manchester City entering the final as favourites, Camacho believes Brighton’s recent progress gives the squad confidence heading into Wembley.

Albion defeated City in the league just weeks ago and the striker feels the team now fully understands Vidosic’s tactical demands.

“City have been so good this season, so they are the favourites,” she said.

“But we’ve really found our style of play in the last few weeks and, of course, we beat them in the league a few weeks ago.

“Now that we fully understand what Dario expects, everyone is involved. If we play together, we can beat them.”

Camacho has also worked tirelessly away from football to improve her English and settle into life in the UK.

She studies English books every day, practices speaking to herself to improve her pronunciation and regularly watches films with English subtitles as part of her learning process.

Whatever role she plays at Wembley on Sunday, Camacho looks determined to leave her mark on Brighton’s biggest game yet.
